What 15 Years Is About
In Yuval Hadadi’s 2019 Israeli film, Yoav is an architect who has been with the same man for fifteen years and appears to have his life in order. When his closest friend becomes pregnant without telling him, and his partner starts talking about children too, something inside him gives. What follows is a coming apart: work, relationship and friendships damaged one after another, with self-destruction starting to look inevitable. The film refuses to pin the cause on any easy explanation, and uses the question of fatherhood not as a possibility but as a door opening onto the man’s own past. Oded Leopold plays Yoav. Udi Persi and Ruti Asrasi are also in the cast.
