16 Days of Glory

The documentary sets down a record of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. It does so from inside the events, through the lives of the athletes who took part. Everything from the opening ceremony to the closing one, all sixteen days, is covered. The narration is carried by the voice of David Perry, and Placido Domingo sings. The road the work takes is different from what the television broadcast showed. It tells the path to a result rather than the result itself, so the viewer also sees the preparation that stays off the field. Names such as Carl Lewis and Mary Lou Retton appear in it. Bud Greenspan’s American production, four hours and forty five minutes long, was completed in 1985.
