What Sound City Is About
A run down recording studio in Los Angeles closes, and its analogue mixing desk, the board on which dozens of famous albums were made, is bought by a musician. The first half is the studio's history and the second puts the desk to work on a new record. The real argument is technical: the difference between analogue recording and digital correction, and what it means to let mistakes stay on the tape. Dave Grohl has a side and does not hide it, so the film is a defence. The interviews are candid and often very funny.
