What What Drives Us Is About
The documentary Dave Grohl directed hangs on a single question: why does anyone get in the van? Musicians talk about the first years on the road, when there was no money, no sleep and no comfort at all, and something there that cannot be learned any other way. Flea, Lars Ulrich, Tony Kanal, Jennifer Finch and many others tell their own touring stories, half of them romantic and half of them plainly idiotic. The world may have changed but the custom has not: the only way to find out whether you can hold on in this business is still to get in the van.
