What 1971 Is About
The film rests on real events. Its subject is soldiers taken prisoner in the 1971 war. Some of them were not returned after the war ended. The account opens six years after the fighting. Six Indian soldiers are still being held in a camp. The camp is at Chaklala, two hundred kilometres from the border. The soldiers begin to think about escaping. The most senior among them is Colonel Puri. At first Puri stands against the idea. He hopes they will be repatriated one day. He also knows what a failed escape would mean. Being caught would mean death for all of them. Even so a plan starts to take shape.
