A Dog's Journey

Bailey keeps being reborn and stays near the same family. As a beagle named Molly he bonds with the young C.J.; after Molly dies in a car accident he returns as Big Dog and then as Max, staying alongside her for years. It is Gail Mancuso's first feature. Josh Gad voices the dog, with Dennis Quaid and Marg Helgenberger in the cast. It is the sequel to A Dog's Purpose from 2017 and is based on W. Bruce Cameron's 2012 novel. Universal released it on 17 May 2019 on a 16 million dollar budget. It grossed around 75.6 million dollars worldwide, 22.7 million of it domestic. It had the lowest opening of any Cameron dog adaptation, at 8 million. Rotten Tomatoes sits at 53 percent, with an A CinemaScore from audiences, the same grade as its predecessor. Who it is for: viewers who like animal films and emotional family stories. Who it is not for: anyone who cannot take an animal dying. By its own structure the film has to kill its dog more than once.
