A Grain of Truth

The prosecutor Teodor Szacki leaves his wife and moves out of Warsaw to Sandomierz in the south-east to start again. Before long an odd murder case lands on his desk. He is a stranger in the town, knows nobody, and as he works more bodies appear. The killings are all being likened to the same thing: the old accusations of ritual murder made against Jews. An antisemitic wave rises fast in the town. Szacki has to find both the killer and the source of the accusation. Borys Lankosz directs, adapting Zygmunt Miłoszewski's novel, with Robert Więckiewicz as Szacki. The title comes from that: at the root of some legends there is not a grain of truth.
