A Noisy Day

On an ordinary street in Moscow, in an unremarkable house, a family lives: a mother and four children. On what might be called a fine day a violent quarrel breaks out, and the subject of the argument is the furniture packed into the apartment. But the furniture is only a pretext; what really collides are two views of the world, two different ideas about what a life is worth. The film does not reduce the difference between generations to a simple matter of age. The account was adapted from a play and moves in a single setting on the weight of speech. In Soviet cinema of 1961, works giving a domestic argument in this tone were still counted as new. Oleg Tabakov appears in the hundred and one minute Soviet film by Anatoli Efros and Georgi Natanson, completed in 1961.
