What A Place In The World Is About
The film describes a commune formed in the middle of 1990s Moscow: homeless people, the sick, the disabled and people nobody thought worth even pity have gathered there, and the leader of the community has made it his work to give them love. The narrative turns around couples who love one another and try to stay together in spite of the poverty and hopelessness around them. Artur Aristakisyan’s hundred and twenty seven minute film is built like a parable and does not expect an easy verdict from its audience. It was awarded at Karlovy Vary and shown at Cannes, while in Russia it met a hard reaction: at the Vyborg festival the jury walked out of the competition screening. Anna Chernova and Vitaliy Khaev star.
