Malin teaches Russian literature at the University of Havana. After Chernobyl, children are sent from the Soviet Union to Cuba for treatment, and Malin is given a new assignment: to translate at the hospital between the Cuban doctors and the Russian-speaking children. He finds himself, from one day to the next, inside a cancer ward. He cannot go back to his lectures, and he cannot be the same man at home either. The brothers Rodrigo and Sebastián Barriuso directed the film together, from the true story of their own father, who taught Russian literature in Havana and did exactly this work. Rodrigo Santoro takes the lead. It screened at Sundance. The scarcity Cuba was living through in those years sits behind the whole film.
