What A Very Serious Person Is About
Jan, a Danish nurse who moves from job to job, starts work with Mrs A, a terminally ill woman in Manhattan who is raising her thirteen year old grandson Gil on her own. They spend the summer by the shore. Jan, who shows nothing of what he feels, finds himself somewhere he did not expect: it falls to him to prepare the sensitive boy for the life he will begin with cousins in Florida after his grandmother’s death. The film gives both dying and growing up quietly, through everyday detail. Charles Busch both directs and acts; Polly Bergen and P.J. Verhoest are also in the ninety five minute American film, completed in 2006.
