A Woman of the World

Countess Elnora is a woman living in Europe. Her lover betrays her. She leaves everything behind because of it. She settles in a small American town called Maple Valley. Her cousin Sam Poore lives there. The town is narrow minded and full of gossip. The countess is not the sort of person they are used to. She smokes in the street and pays no attention to anyone. On her arm is her former lover’s crest, worn as a tattoo. The town’s district attorney is running a campaign to clean up vice. He takes aim at her at once. A contest begins between the two of them. A young man also takes an interest in the countess. Pola Negri and Holmes Herbert appear in the seventy minute film, an American production Malcolm St. Clair finished in 1925.
