Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule

Selvaraghavan's 2007 Telugu film follows Ganesh, out of work. He takes a job at the company where the woman he loves works; Keerthi is engaged to someone else, and that fact builds all the tension of the first half. The second half inverts the first. Unexpected events break up Ganesh's life, and when he meets Keerthi again it is he who does not want to marry; the film turns the direction of desire around. Venkatesh and Trisha lead. The tone moves between comedy and melodrama and the family scenes take wide space. Measured against Selvaraghavan's harsher strain, this film sits in a softer place. Who it's for: those who like Telugu romantic family drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a narrative in which the woman decides freely; the film largely leaves the choices to the families.
