What Adios Amigos Is About
Three young men with disabilities want to go on holiday to Salou like their friends do, and what they actually want is their first sexual experience. Their parents reject the idea flatly, until a carer they find online makes the trip possible. Albert Jan van Rees directed the Dutch production, which opened on 8 September 2016. It is a remake of the 2011 Belgian film Hasta la Vista, and the same story was made again in the United States in 2019 as Come As You Are. Martijn Lakemeier, Yannick van de Velde and Bas Hoeflaak are in the cast, and the point of the thing is that the desires of disabled young men are treated as a subject at all.
