Alien Island

Cristóbal Valenzuela's 2023 Chilean documentary covers an episode from 1984. A group of short-wave radio operators begin receiving strange messages from an island in the south. The messages say an advanced extraterrestrial community lives there. The documentary does not try to verify the claim; the narrative is about what people wanted to believe during the years of dictatorship. Recordings and archive footage from the period are used. Witnesses speak today and remain divided. The tone invites curiosity. Who it's for: those who like archival documentary and strange histories. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a firm explanation; the documentary leaves the question open.
