All Is One. Except 0

In 1981 in Hamburg a group of enthusiasts founded their own computer club. These independent minds, taken with the technology pioneers in America, set themselves a code: all information must be free, public data should be used, private data protected. But not everyone kept to those rules. Computer technology was still in its infancy, and the internet, only beginning to spread, became a screen onto which social utopias were projected. The documentary tells this story in the words of the people themselves and through a montage of found video and audio recordings. The question asked at the end of the film is this: what is left today of the promise of those first years. The ninety minute German documentary by Klaus Maeck and Tanja Schwerdorf was completed in 2020.
