What The Internet's Own Boy: The Story of Aaron Swartz Is About
The documentary follows a person who started programming as a child and had a hand in developing some of the basic tools of the internet. He is then prosecuted for downloading academic papers over a library network. The film ties its subject to the gap between the sentence the prosecution sought and the scale of the act; the narrative also opens the argument about access to knowledge and shows that it is unresolved. Interviews with family and friends form the spine. Brian Knappenberger directed, using Aaron Swartz's own talks and video. A real warning: the film covers a process that ended in a suicide and its last section is very heavy. It is also one-sided; there is no interview representing the prosecution.
