American Satan

A young rock band that has moved to Los Angeles plays clubs nobody listens in and runs out of money. Then a man whose identity is unclear appears and offers them a deal. The band rises fast and the price of rising is paid one member at a time. Ash Avildsen moves the Faust story directly into the music industry, where the pact with the devil is not a metaphor but the equivalent of the contract signed with a label. Andy Biersack leads and is a real musician; Malcolm McDowell and Denise Richards are in the cast. The best things in it are the concert scenes and the music. It is not subtle and does not try to be, stating its target outright. A series was later made in the same world. Who it is for: viewers who like rock culture and critique of the industry. Who it is not for: anyone looking for subtlety.
