What An Ideal Husband Is About
A prominent politician is preparing to expose a financial fraud. But a woman who has put a great deal of money into that venture threatens to reveal a secret from his past: if he calls the scheme a swindle, he goes down with it. What makes it harder is his wife, who will not accept the smallest flaw in him; in her eyes he has to be faultless. The film was adapted from the play by Oscar Wilde, and the matter turns from a political question into a moral reckoning.
