And So It Is

The film is set in the Andes in Bolivia. Andrés Mayta and his wife Sabina are a peasant couple. One day Andrés goes off to the market. While he is away Sabina is attacked and killed. The man who did it is called Rosendo Ramos. Andrés learns what happened when he returns. But he does not act at once. He waits for a year. Over that time he prepares what he will do. In the end he comes face to face with the man. He settles it hand to hand rather than with a weapon. The title means so it is in the Aymara language. The work was shot in Aymara. It is the first feature film ever made in Bolivia. Néstor Peredo and Benedicta Huanca take the leads in Jorge Sanjinés’s Bolivian film of 1966, which runs seventy five minutes.
