What Andha Naal Is About
Rajan is a radio engineer and is found dead in Madras. The years are those of the Second World War, and the city fears an air raid. The case is investigated by Sivanandham, an officer of the CID. Among the suspects are Rajan’s wife, his lover, his relatives and his neighbours. Each of them tells a different version of what happened. The accounts do not agree, and a different motive comes out each time. Hidden relationships and reckonings become visible that way. The film is built as a detective story and keeps the culprit back until the end. Sivaji Ganesan and Pandari Bai take the leads in S. Balachander’s Tamil film of 1954.
