Anplagghed al Cinema

A filmed record of Anplagghed, the stage show by the trio Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo. The framing is simple: three astronauts and a robot land on a planet of aliens and try to explain life on Earth, which casts the audience in the hall as the aliens. It was captured at the PalaPanini in Modena in April 2006, with four performances shot on sixteen digital cameras and cut together. So this is not a film so much as a stage show moved into cinemas, and it never pretends otherwise. For Italian audiences the trio's sketches are close to common language; from outside, most of the comedy rests on local reference. It opened in November 2006 and runs a hundred minutes. Who it is for: viewers who know Italian stage comedy and this trio's material. Who it is not for: anyone looking for cinema, since this is a theatre recording end to end.
