Arsène Wenger: Invincible

Christian Jeanpierre's 2021 documentary is about the football manager Arsène Wenger. Its axis is the year a team completed a league season without defeat, something that has happened once. The documentary does not look only at that season. The changes Wenger brought to diet, training and transfers sit inside the narrative, with an account of how they were received in English football. Wenger speaks in his own words and discusses his departure after twenty-two years. Dennis Bergkamp and Alex Ferguson are among those who appear. The narrative is not critical and largely follows Wenger's view. Who it's for: those who like football history and portraits of managers. Who it's not for: viewers who do not follow the club; the documentary does not explain the context in detail.
