Article 370

Article 370 of the Indian constitution granted a special status to Jammu and Kashmir. In August 2019 it was revoked. The film tells the process leading to that decision through Zooni Haksar, an invented intelligence officer; Zooni is assigned to stop violence in the region while legal and political preparation runs in Delhi. Aditya Suhas Jambhale tells it from a frame that supports the decision; the government's point of view is at the centre and there is almost no room for opposing arguments. That has been the most argued-over aspect of the film. Yami Gautam plays Zooni and Priyamani plays the official in Delhi. The production moves at the rhythm of a thriller and combines real events with invented characters. Who it's for: Viewers of Indian political thrillers and narratives drawn from recent history. Who it's not for: The subject is deeply contested and the film is one-sided; the Kashmiri view is all but absent. Do not expect historical accuracy.
