The Horse

Hüseyin comes to Istanbul from his village. His son is with him. He has left his wife behind in the village. His one aim is to get the boy through school. He does not want him to end up poor and unschooled like himself. In the city he works as a street vendor. There is no pitch, no premises and no permit. The day of a street vendor is spent being moved on. Earnings are small and costs are not. The father does not give up all the same. He wants to buy his son a horse. The city wears him down in every sense. The film builds a hard criticism of the country as it was then. Genco Erkal was named best actor at Antalya for this role. Genco Erkal and Harun Yeşilyurt appear in the hundred and sixteen minute film, a Turkish and German co-production Ali Özgentürk finished in 1982.
