Audition

Louis works collecting debts and does not shrink from force when it is needed, but since childhood he has dreamed of being an actor. When his cousin arranges an audition for him, he gets a well known actor to help him rehearse his scenes in secret, and does not even tell his girlfriend Suzie. Suzie has a secret of her own: she is pregnant and does not want her child to grow up surrounded by violence. The film gives acting not as a dream of escape but as the man’s reckoning with his own work. The account does not make the violence showy and does not put Louis in the right. Whose decision it is stays open to the end. Suzanne Clement appears in Luc Picard’s hundred and eleven minute Canadian film, completed in 2005.
