Autumn Spring

Fanda is a man who refuses to accept getting old. With Eda, an old colleague from the theatre, he turns daily life into a playground, passing the time on stunts like posing as serious buyers touring castles and expensive properties. His wife Emilie wants him to make serious decisions about the future, and the tension between the two carries the whole film. Vladimír Michálek neither asks for pity about ageing nor makes it charming; he sets two attitudes to death side by side, trying to forget it against preparing for it. It was the last major role for Vlastimil Brodský as Fanda, and the film is dedicated to him. Stella Zázvorková plays opposite him and Stanislav Zindulka the friend. One of the best loved late works in Czech cinema.
