Ava

Ava is the daughter of a well off family in Tehran. She is of high school age and does well in her classes. Her friends, her music and her standing at school take up her time. Her worries look like the worries of any teenager. Her mother, though, is mistrustful and far too protective. She hears about her daughter’s friendship with a boy. She does not stop at questioning it. She takes her to a gynaecologist. What that does to Ava is to fill her with rage. She had never felt anything like it before. After that day the model student is gone. She pushes back against the limits her family sets. She pushes back against the rules of the school as well. It is not only home and school in front of her. Society itself draws the same line. Mahour Jabbari and Vahid Aghapoor appear in the hundred and three minute film, a Qatari, Iranian and Canadian co-production Sadaf Foroughi finished in 2017.
