Aviya's Summer

The year is 1951. Aviya is a girl of ten. She lives in a small village in Israel. Her mother Henya is raising her alone. Henya survived a Nazi concentration camp. The memory of the past does not let go of her. She carries that weight through ordinary days. The poverty of the newly founded state does not make things easier either. Aviya, meanwhile, is looking for her missing father. She wonders whether the man who has just moved to the village might be him. But Henya knows he is not, and knows why. Gila Almagor and Kaipu Cohen take the leads in Eli Cohen’s Israeli film of 1988.
