Iben Dorner What B.O.Y.: Bruises of Yesterday Is About
A sixteen year old boy spending the summer with his grandparents falls in love with a young man older than himself. Then a loss occurs and the boy enters a dark stretch of self harm, desire and loneliness. The film does not present the difference in age as a romantic detail. The self harm is not described in detail; the account shows not what it consists of but what the boy cannot carry. How much the grandparents see is left open. The town, the summer and skating form the film’s everyday ground. Noa Risbro Hjerrild plays the lead in Soren Green’s eighty seven minute Danish film, completed in 2024.
