Babumoshai Bandookbaaz

Babu Bihari works as a contract killer in Uttar Pradesh. He does the job coldly and without asking many questions. One day he runs into a second man hired to shoot the same target, Banke Bihari. The two start out needling each other, then it turns serious. The rivalry between them becomes a bloody reckoning before long. Kushan Nandy's film puts Nawazuddin Siddiqui at its centre. The censor board asked for forty-eight cuts; the producers appealed, and the tribunal above it passed the film with eight. It opened in August 2017. The telling does not present violence as heroism, but its language and tone are harsh; it sits in the provincial crime vein of Indian cinema.
