What Bastard Swordsman Is About
Yun Fei Yang is an orphan who does the heaviest and dirtiest work at a hard kung fu school and is looked down on by everyone. His only friend is the resident master’s daughter. When a swordsman from a rival clan arrives to remind the master that the duel held once a decade is due, every internal quarrel is set aside, because the master knows his rival is the stronger man. Things tangle further when a wandering swordsman turns up and takes a side. Lu Chun-ku’s Shaw Brothers production is a wuxia thick with the supernatural, and the legendary Silkworm Swordsman is part of the story. Norman Chu leads, with Anthony Lau Wing and Alex Man. It broke the opening-day box office record in Taiwan.
