What Bedrooms and Hallways Is About
Leo lives in London, is gay, and is about to turn thirty. Nothing in his life is going the way it should. On the suggestion of a straight friend he joins a men's group, where men sit around and talk about their feelings. At one session Leo simply says out loud that he is attracted to one of the other men. Everyone who hears it is thrown. What follows is a chain in which who wants whom keeps changing places. Rose Troche directs, with Kevin McKidd, Hugo Weaving, James Purefoy and Tom Hollander. It is a comedy set in the London of the nineties, and its refusal to put anyone in a box is what set it apart at the time.
