What My World Is About
Ela lost her sight and her hearing to a severe illness at the age of two and grew up in a world with no language and no rules in it. Her family eventually stopped being able to manage her at all and considered committing her. As a last attempt her mother found a teacher. Mahir's method is harsh and his patience is not visible at first, but he is the only person willing to try to build her a world. Uğur Yücel directs and plays Mahir, with Beren Saat as Ela. The film is a remake of the 2005 Indian film Black, itself drawn from the story of Helen Keller. Black's director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, stated at the time that no remake rights had been obtained.
