Between Summer and Fall

Seventeen year old Lena falls in love with Eva, her older brother’s new girlfriend. The film tells, in a tone full of talk, how two people slowly come close to each other although neither was looking for it. The account draws the two young women together with their own insecurity, their wish for a connection and their desire for a place in the world. What the relationship is is not named at the outset and no explanation is felt to be needed. The brother’s presence keeps the situation fragile throughout. The film uses the short season between late summer and autumn as the duration of its account. It does not tie itself to a clear decision. Linn Reusse and Isabel Thierauch appear in Daniel Manns’s hundred and two minute German film, completed in 2018.
