Bhavesh Joshi Superhero

Vikramaditya Motwane brings the superhero idea down to street level in Mumbai and swaps the cape for a yellow motorcycle helmet. Three friends meet at an anti corruption rally, start a YouTube channel called Insaaf TV, and film petty officials taking bribes. What begins as a prank stops being one the moment they touch the city's water supply. The film's best decision is to keep its hero incompetent. The fighting is clumsy, the plans fail, he takes beating after beating and runs out of breath chasing people down alleys. Harshvardhan Kapoor plays a man in no condition to save anyone, only too stubborn to stop. It was a disaster in cinemas, earning around two and a half crore against a budget of twenty one. It has since found a cult audience, largely because the machinery of corruption it describes has not dated at all. Its flaw is length. The first half of a two hour forty minute film moves very slowly. Who it is for: viewers who want the superhero idea made grubby and real. Who it is not for: anyone who wants clean action and a win.
