Penny Marshall's 1988 film follows Josh, twelve years old, who wishes at a fairground machine to be big. He wakes the next morning in an adult body. He has to find work and live on his own. The film keeps a child's view inside an adult world; the narrative uses it best in the sections at the toy company. Tom Hanks was nominated for best actor. The piano scene in the store is its best known section. The romantic line is now found uncomfortable, since the character is in fact a child. Who it's for: those who like classic comedy. Who it's not for: viewers troubled by how the romantic line is set up.
