What Blind Spot Is About
There is a writer. His work is not going well and he is struggling. He tells his publisher an idea for a new mystery. In the idea there is a perfect murder. Then the publisher is found dead. The manner of the death matches the writer’s plot exactly. That likeness makes him the prime suspect. From that point the investigation is after him. The film is built in the film noir tradition. The writer’s own plot becomes evidence against him. Remembering and failing to remember are the two poles of the account. Chester Morris and Constance Dowling take the leads, with Steven Geray and James Bell also in the cast, in Robert Gordon’s American film of 1947.
