What Born Strong Is About
The documentary follows the four strongest men in the world as they prepare for the Arnold Strongman Classic. All four weigh more than a hundred and eighty kilos: Zydrunas Savickas of Lithuania, unbeaten for a long stretch; Brian Shaw of the United States, the defending champion; Eddie Hall of England; and Hafthor Bjornsson of Iceland. Each describes what he does in order to win. Gary Cohen's film moves along with the commentary of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who hosts the competition. The telling also shows what these bodies cost: tens of thousands of calories a day, constant injury, a shortened life expectancy. The athletes know this and carry on anyway. Bjornsson was known at the time for a television series as well.
