Buck Brannaman
Robert Redford What Buck Is About
Buck Brannaman teaches people how to approach a horse without shouting at it, hitting it or frightening it. He travels the country giving clinics, and the people who turn up think they have a problem with their horse; more often than not Buck shows them the problem is the person. He came out of a violent childhood himself, a boy beaten by his father who grew into a man whose trade is working with fear. Cindy Meehl's documentary won the audience award at Sundance in 2011. Brannaman had advised on Robert Redford's The Horse Whisperer, and Redford speaks in the film. It looks like a film about horses and is really a film about people.
