Gallipoli: End of the Road

Corporal Muhsin is an experienced sniper who came through the Balkan War. When mobilisation is declared again he goes to the front with his brother Hasan. At Gallipoli the two brothers find themselves in the same trench. There are snipers on the other side too, and the war turns into a patient business of two marksmen waiting each other out. The brothers try to keep each other standing. Kemal Uzun and Serdar Akar directed the film together and it opened in 2013. Other films about Gallipoli came out the same year, and how often the war was being filmed in that period was itself argued about. The film builds the front not through large set pieces but through two brothers and a duel between snipers. Gürkan Uygun plays Muhsin and Umut Kurt plays Hasan.
