What Cas & Dylan Is About
This road film directed by Jason Priestley opens with an elderly doctor who has had a terminal diagnosis. He has decided how his own ending will go and has set off; on the way he runs into a twenty two year old woman who fits no category at all, his plan comes apart, and the two of them end up on the run together without meaning to. The film neither glorifies the illness and the decision nor opens them for debate; its interest is in two people learning to put up with each other. It runs along empty Canadian roads, often funny with something heavy underneath. The gap in age and rhythm between Richard Dreyfuss and Tatiana Maslany supplies all of its energy.
