Waiting for Heaven

Eflatun is a master of miniature painting living in seventeenth century Istanbul. One day he is taken by force to a vizier’s mansion. There he is given a task. A prince who rose against the state has been captured. His name is Danyal and he is to be executed. His identity has to be confirmed first. Eflatun is ordered to make a portrait of him in the Western manner. For that he has to travel to a distant province. A picked group of men is sent with him. The road is long and dangerous. On the way they meet a woman called Leyla. They take her along. The journey turns into an adventure. The film sets the art of the miniature inside the story. Serhat Tutumluer and Melisa Sözen appear in the hundred and seven minute film, a Hungarian and Turkish co-production Derviş Zaim finished in 2006.
