What Chapiteau Show: Love and Friendship - Part 1 Is About
The film tells two stories set in the same summer in the same seaside town in Crimea. The first is love: a girl who met someone online and a man hiding behind a nickname. She comes to see him, and in person he is not the person she was expecting. The second is friendship: a deaf young man and a boy who becomes his friend. The two test each other across a summer. There is a tent theatre at the edge of town, and both stories end there one night. Sergei Loban directs the Russian film; a hundred and seven minutes. It is the first half of a four-part structure; the second film tells the same summer through two other stories. The same events keep reappearing from different eyes. There is a great deal of music and song, and the shape is close to a musical.
