Karitas is a mother of four. She is trying to get by on her own. A custody case with her former husband is going on. The case is over her three daughters. The woman puts all her strength into it. Meanwhile her son slips out of her sight. Gudmund is twelve. At school he is being badly bullied. He tells nobody and is left alone. His only friend is Marinó. Marinó is in his forties and has a diagnosis of schizophrenia. He and his mother live in the same building. One day he learns that his mother has been seeing someone. That news unsettles him.
