Circus of Life

Rahat Khawaja is an elderly and respected man. He works in real estate. He is a devout Muslim. He writes hymns, composes them and records them. He also cares for his bedridden wife. One day he goes to the wedding of a friend’s son. There he dances without meaning to. The dance is recorded and put on social media. The footage then reaches television as well. His quiet life comes apart at that point. Nobody but his wife understands his situation. His daughters and his neighbours criticise him. His friends turn their backs on him too. Arif Hassan and Samiya Mumtaz take the leads in Sarmad Sultan Khoosat’s Pakistani film of 2020, which runs a hundred and forty four minutes.
