Across a twenty-four-hour shift, two paramedics and the student riding along with them run from call to call. Some are emergencies, some are not, and some are people looking for someone to talk to. Randy has spent eighteen years in the back of the truck and is finished. The film is not interested in heroic medics. It is interested in the system: it keeps showing the same thing, that most of the people being taken to hospital have a problem that is not medical but a lack of insurance, housing and care. Its humour comes out of that helplessness. The form is episodic: one shift, calls one after another, long conversations inside the ambulance. The tone moves constantly between comedy and drama. Christopher Leone directed and wrote it with Patrick Pianezza, a former paramedic, which is where the accuracy of detail comes from. It played in cinemas in September 2025 and reached digital in December. Rainn Wilson plays Randy, Lil Rel Howery his partner and Aimee Carrero the student. Rob Riggle and Yvette Nicole Brown are also in the cast. Who it is for: viewers who like comedy-drama with occupational realism. Who it is not for: anyone looking for a whole story. The film is a set of calls, some strong and some weak, and the tonal shifts do not always land.
