What Colao Is About
A coffee grower up in the mountains of the Dominican Republic has reached forty, is still single, and there is nobody left in the village who would suit him. He finally comes down to the capital, Santo Domingo, to look for a wife. The city catches him unprepared: the apps, the rules, the ways of behaving, what women expect of him. The harder he tries to present himself as somebody other than who he is, the worse it goes. Frank Perozo directs this Dominican comedy, with Manny Perez in the lead and Celines Toribio and Nashla Bogaert in the cast. Eighty-eight minutes. It was a big hit at home, and most of its jokes come out of the distance between the countryside and the capital.
