The company is about to stage a new play. Ana hopes to get the lead. The part goes to Carmen, the veteran of the company. Once again Ana is left behind. Then the producer Carlos Márquez makes her an offer. He will give her the lead in the new play. What he wants in return is for her to become his lover. Ana is left alone with that offer. She has to choose between a career and her self respect. In the end she turns the offer down. The film tells what lies behind the stage.
