What Confession of Murder Is About
A man who appears once the statute of limitations has run out publishes a book confessing to serial killings years earlier and becomes a celebrity. The detective who could never close the case starts watching him. The film takes on directly how the media turns a criminal into a star; the narrative makes it concrete through book signings, television programmes and fan groups. The chase sequences are long and acrobatic. Jung Byung-gil directed. It is a South Korean production drawing on the public argument caused by a real case. A real warning: there is torture and graphic violence. The grief of the victims' families is also used as thriller material.
